Note A vast, dune-backed beach on Corfu's south coast, next to the Korission Lagoon and neighbouring Issos beach — the island's windiest stretch, nicknamed the "Sahara of Corfu" for its huge sand dunes.

Hazards

STRONG WIND This is the windiest stretch of Corfu — genuinely strong afternoon thermal wind most of the summer.
SANDBAR Open dune-backed beach — decent banks build with wind-swell, plenty of space to spread out.
ISOLATED Long, undeveloped beach with limited facilities — bring water and sun protection.
LAGOON WILDLIFE Backed by the protected Korission Lagoon — a haven for birdlife, worth a look between sessions.
