Hazards

REEF Sharp, shallow reef with large rocks hidden just beneath the surface — ask a lifeguard or local for the safest lineup before paddling out.
RIP W/NW swell builds a real rip off the point on bigger days — respect it, this reef can produce serious size.
POLLUTION Proximity to the port means water quality can be inconsistent — avoid surfing right after heavy rain.
INCONSISTENT Only works once in a while — best around high tide, rising, with a genuine W/NW groundswell.

Local knowledge

Best tide High tide · rising
Peak season Oct–Mar · W/NW swell · Inconsistent but can produce overhead barrels
Swell key W/NW swell · Exposed reef point at the port entrance · Best with offshore S/SE wind
Level Advanced · Sharp reef bottom · Not for beginners
Dawn patrol Check the forecast carefully — this reef doesn't fire often, but a genuine swell here is worth chasing.
