Note Dramatic white marl cliffs beside the Platani river mouth and the ancient Greek ruins of Eraclea Minoa — one of Sicily's most scenic breaks.

Hazards

RIVER OUTFLOW Platani river mouth adds current and occasional debris after rain — check conditions before paddling out.
ROCKS The point beneath the white cliffs is rocky — the beach itself is sandier, pick your line accordingly.
RIP Scirocco swell builds a rip near the river mouth and the point — use the channel to get out, don't fight it.
SCIROCCO This is one of the few Sicilian spots that really needs the Scirocco (SE) — a rarer wind than Mistral, so patience is required.
