Note An exposed north-coast break in the old Phoenician town of Batroun, catching raw Mediterranean swell many locals rate as the finest in the region. Colonel Reef Beach next door is the same break's rockier, steeper extension.

Hazards

REEF Colonel Reef Beach, right next door, is the same break's steep, rocky extension — launch and lineup areas are notoriously slippery.
RIP W swell builds a rip along the reef edges — read it from the beach before paddling out.
LOCALS A tight-knit, experienced crew of advanced watermen — respectful but not a beginner lineup, especially at the reef side.
OFFSHORE WIND Best with W swell and offshore E/NE wind.
