Fills by Popular beach in summer · Quiet Oct–Apr for surf
Walk to water ~200 steps = 5 min + board carry

Hazards

STEPS 200 steep steps with a board. Plan your exit before a session ends — tired legs + board on steps is serious.
RIP NW swell creates a lateral current in the bay — the sandy bottom makes it forgiving, but the current runs stronger near the headland edges.
LOCALS Small, tight-knit Maltese crew — one of the island's few real surf spots, so respect and patience go a long way.
CURRENT NW swell creates lateral currents. Sandy bottom is forgiving.

Local knowledge

Best tide Mid to high rising · low tide exposes reef dangerously
Peak season Nov–Mar · NW swell · Beautiful bay · Nature reserve setting
Swell key NW swell · Most consistent beach break on Malta · Sandy bottom · Best in winter storms
Level Beginner to intermediate · Sandy beach · 200 steps access adds adventure
Dawn patrol Rusty clay cliffs at sunrise are spectacular. Steps mean fewer people — more waves.
