Note Home to the Arena Grand Kažela Campsite, on the southern tip of Istria. Kazela specifically is driven by a strong Jugo/Scirocco (SSE) wind that can build swell to 2.5m -- Bora (NE) is a real Istrian wind but isn't what makes this spot work. Nearby Kasteja/Bijeca Bay is more sheltered even when the Scirocco is blowing hard.

WIND SWELL Croatia surf is wind swell only — short period, choppy. Not Atlantic-style surf. Manage expectations.
SCIROCCO STRENGTH A strong Jugo/Scirocco from the SSE can build swell to 2.5m here — powerful for a wind-swell spot, respect it.
LOCALS Croatia's tiny wind-surf scene — a handful of regulars near Pula, curious and welcoming rather than territorial given how rare rideable days are.
COLD Adriatic in winter is cold (10-12°C) — 4/3mm wetsuit + boots minimum.
