Hazards

SHELTERED Menton's bay is tucked against the Italian border mountains and very sheltered — needs a rare event to produce surf.
PEBBLES Pebble beach, similar punchy shorebreak character to Nice when there is swell.
LOCALS No real dedicated surf scene — a beach town crowd, not a lineup.
LEVANT As the easternmost French spot, Menton can occasionally catch an E Levant swell that misses spots further west.
