Getting there

From Zadar · ferry to Dugi Otok + 20 km drive · 2h total
Airport Zadar (ZAD) · 30 km + ferry · 2h30
Note One of Croatia's most famous white sand and pebble coves, on the north-western tip of Dugi Otok. Facing the open Adriatic to the south, it's less wind-shadowed than most mainland spots.

Parking

Cost Free
Surface Small gravel lot at the cove · limited spaces
Fills by Popular summer beach · needs a deep winter storm for surf
Walk to water ~2 min
Facilities Beach bar in season · Božava village 3km, Veli Rat lighthouse 4km

Hazards

RARE SWELL Needs a genuine deep South/Southwest storm pushing directly up the Adriatic — not a wind-swell spot like most of this coast.
SANDBAR A rare, somewhat organised beach break forms in the cove during intense winter low-pressure systems.
ISOLATED Reached by ferry then a drive across the island — no surf community, bring everything you need.
REMOTE SEASON Essentially deserted outside summer — exactly when a winter storm swell would need to arrive.

Local knowledge

Best tide Mid tide
Peak season Deep winter South/SW storm systems only — genuinely rare
Swell key S/SW storm swell · Organised cove beach break when it works
Level Beginner · Sandy/pebble · Extremely inconsistent, but a beautiful setting
Dawn patrol One of the most scenic settings on this whole list — a white sand lagoon with essentially nobody around, if you catch it right.
